Repairs & Service
My garage door won't open. What's likely wrong?+
The most common culprits are a broken spring, a dead opener, or a snapped cable. A broken spring is the most frequent β you'll usually hear a loud bang when it goes, and the door will feel extremely heavy or won't move at all. Give us a call and we can usually diagnose it over the phone before we even come out.
How long do garage door springs last?+
Standard springs are rated for about 10,000 cycles β roughly 7 to 10 years with average use. If you use your garage multiple times a day, they'll wear out faster. We also carry high-cycle springs rated for 25,000+ cycles, which are worth it if you want fewer replacements down the road.
Can I replace a garage door spring myself?+
We strongly advise against it. Torsion springs are under enormous tension and can cause serious injury if they release suddenly. This is one of those jobs where the cost of a professional is well worth it compared to the risk of doing it yourself. We carry the parts and can usually get it done the same day.
Do you offer same-day service?+
Yes, in most cases. For Calgary and nearby communities, we typically have a crew available same day, especially for broken springs and door-won't-open calls. Give us a call first thing in the morning and we'll do our best to get to you that day.
Do you offer emergency service?+
Yes. If your door is stuck open, stuck closed with your vehicle inside, or poses a security risk, call us. We handle emergency calls and can often respond the same day. Sundays are reserved for emergency situations β call (403) 826-6363.
Installation & New Doors
How long does a new garage door installation take?+
Most residential installs take 3 to 5 hours from start to finish, including removing the old door. Commercial installs vary depending on the size and type of door. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we quote the job.
Should I repair my door or replace it?+
If your door is under 15 years old and structurally sound, a repair usually makes more sense. If it's older, heavily damaged, poorly insulated, or you're doing renovations and want to update the look, replacement is worth considering. We'll give you an honest assessment β we're not going to push a new door if a repair will do the job.
What styles and materials do you carry?+
We carry a full range including steel, insulated steel, carriage-house style, and modern flush designs with glass panels. Options range from builder-grade to premium. If you have something specific in mind, call us and we'll let you know what we can source.
Do you remove and dispose of the old door?+
Yes, removal of the old door is included with every new door installation. We haul it away β you don't need to arrange anything separately.
Openers
My opener works but the door moves slowly or makes noise. Do I need a new one?+
Not necessarily. Slow movement is often a spring or cable issue, not the opener itself. Noise can usually be fixed with lubrication and adjustment. We'll check the whole system before recommending a replacement.
Can you install a smart opener with phone control?+
Yes. We install smart openers from major brands that connect to your home WiFi and let you open, close, and monitor your door from your phone. Great for letting in deliveries or checking whether you left the garage open.
My remote stopped working. Is that an opener problem?+
Usually it's just a dead battery β try that first. If a fresh battery doesn't fix it, the remote may need reprogramming, or the receiver in the opener may have an issue. We can diagnose it quickly on a service call.
Pricing & Service Area
How much does a spring replacement cost?+
Pricing depends on the type and size of spring, whether it's a single or double door, and any additional parts needed. Call us for a quote β we're upfront about pricing before we start any work, and there are no surprise charges at the end.
Do you charge for quotes?+
For new door installations and larger jobs, quotes are free. For service calls where a technician comes out to diagnose a problem, a service fee applies β which is applied toward the cost of the repair if you proceed.
What areas do you serve?+
We're based in Calgary and serve most communities within 200 km, including Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Chestermere, Canmore, Banff, Red Deer, Lethbridge, and many more. Check our
Service Areas page for the full list, or just call us if you're not sure.
Do you work on commercial properties?+
Yes. We install and service commercial overhead doors, roll-up doors, and sectional doors for warehouses, shops, and industrial facilities. Commercial work is a significant part of what we do.
